We stopped for lunch based on Yelp reviews in the middle of Yorktown Battlefield exploration day. The place is within a 10 min drive from Yorktown Victory Center and is a pleasant enough small town diner in a strip mall. Food is good and fresh. Coming from NY, it was our first time to try fried green tomatoes, and now we're fans.

Visited Eggheads, for a NYD breakfast. We ordered steak and eggs, grits w/cheese and other fare (Coffee, OJ, Water). First the good: The drive over was scenic and nice, coming from the west side. Now the bad: I've dined at diners and dives all over the area, and Eggheads was not nearly on par with any reputable restaurant, IMO. The steaks were cheap...but, fatty. I'm def willing to pay for quality. The eggs were not great...and the grits were ice cold. Yes, I'm a hard Yelp grader, but, I also appreciate good effort. I see no effort at eggheads. Obviously, they have a captive local customer base and have no motivation to excel. No way I'd recommend Eggheads to someone I care about:)

Local hole in the wall? Yes. Greasy spoon? Maybe. Good food and great service? Most definitely. We cross the bridge to eat here a few times a month- the service is dependable, friendly, and caring and the food is good. Burgers are some of the best menu items, but fresh beer battered rock fish is great too. Fried bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit is my favorite. Great with accommodating kids. Another reviewer mentioned the atmosphere- it's a local joint that's not fancy and it works for them. If you're going for some good diner/home cooked food, and not after "ambiance"- this is a good choice. Try the fried green tomatoes!

I want to start off by saying that some of the reviews here just don't do the place justice. Went in with an open mind and I am happy we did. The service was great as was the food. Not only did we have a great waitress but all the other staff working made sure we had all we needed as well. (Warm coffee, more water and so on.) We will be making this place our go to when we want good food with smile. All items in menu are very well priced and has a good variety. Can't wait to try other meals/items on the menu.

The food use to be good and so was the service, but not anymore. They went downhill for some reason. The last time I went there I decided that was my last time and I truly have not been back. I recommend Damons or Courthouse for breakfast.

First time there great atmosphere. Food was great and very cheap prices. Our waitress was so sweet. She was having a "off" day she said but to us she was such a sweetheart and cared. So was great. I will def come back. Only reason a 4 star and not a 5 is because the young lady ringing us up was rude and stared. Other then that awesome.

It is what it is - a diner in a strip mall on your way out of VA beach. Beau & I were hungover and in desperate need of sustenance. Staff was gettin the job done right & with a smile. Food was delivered hot and tasty. Nothing was greasy, even things you would expect to be, so that was a pleasant surprise. Recommend the biscuits (we ordered a second round)!

Not my favorite breakfast ever... We were told to go here by some trusted friends but now I will question there restaurant taste. The food was good, the county ham to die for! But our plates come out wrong the first time. Or toast was forgotten the second time. And even though we tipped nicely they forgot to give us back our credit card. Kinda messes up a day out shopping... The one nice thing about all these mess ups was when I called to see if that's where our card was they told me that we had to show an ID to get it back. Good, they wouldn't just give it to some hoodlum. Bad, cause they close at 3 and we get off of work at 5. The food was ok, the service was kind of a pain. I doubt we will return

Went to Eggheads on a Monday and had excellent service! The food was wonderful and plenty of it on each plate for the price. I ordered a Hickory bacon burger with fries and Ice tea while my wife ordered the fried pork chops and mash potatoes! Good eating!

C'mon Yelp. 4 stars?!? WTH? Lowered to 1 star because of crazy 5 star reviews. actually more 1.5-2 stars. Poorly lit and pretty dirty. FM radio way too loud. Food wasn't terrible but not at all good. Basic Sysco stuff. This place is a basic scuzzy diner with no real redeeming qualities. My coffee cup was from a place that said (I swear) "inspected for bed bugs after every use."

So, i haven't been back to Eggheads yet but i have had some correspondence with the owner. She is so passionate about her restaurant that I bumped my review up one star. When Amber contacted me after my initial review, she was very concerned about the negatives I listed and truly wanted to improve. It's great to see a an owner who understands the importance of feedback. The restaurant has been open a year now and from what I can tell, it seems they have hit their groove. Next time i swing through the area, i will definitely be giving Eggheads another shot.

I'm from Long Island and there are tons of great places to get a great breakfast so I know a thing or two about a good omolete and tasty coffee. While visiting Gloucester my boyfriends parents took us out to Eggheads and it was so delicious! Our waitress Tiffany was very polite and very attentive. I ordered coffee to start with and it was good and ordered the veggie omelette for my meal with cheese and it was excellent. Everybody else I was with really enjoyed there meals from pancakes to the meatzilla omelette. This place is great if you haven't tried it yet I suggest you go! Kudos to you eggheads.

Staff was friendly, attentive, and punctual. I ordered two eggs, over easy, toast, home-fries, country ham, orange juice, and coffee. The eggs were cooked very well, gently... with the yolk molten and slightly thickened. The country ham was rich, and very salty. Exactly what one might expect. At first glance, the portion size might seem a bit puny- but trust me... it's just right for how rich this country ham is. You don't want to overdo it. The home fries? They were served piping hot, and the interior was nice and baked potato-like, but the outer crust... I don't know. The crust seemed a bit much, almost like they were lightly battered and deep fried. I would have preferred a more natural potato-like texture, but that's just me. The toast was your usual white bread, lightly buttered. I wish that other types of bread would have been offered- some wheat or rye would have been a nice touch. The coffee was fresh and hot- aromatic, and absent of the acidic flavor notes that accumulate when coffee has sat around for too long. The orange juice had a little bit of pulp and was syrupy. Not the best orange juice I've ever had, but serviceable. I'll definitely be back.

Where the locals go, which translates to a "hidden treasure." Great tasting food and nice, friendly staff. Reasonable prices and a great selection on daily specials. Just the first of many visits.

A diner that serves breakfast all day in Gloucester? Finally!! I would eat over easy eggs all day if I could and now that Eggheads has opened, there's nothing stopping me. I've only ever had the breakfast options but each time portions were huge and not 'diner' greasy. Friends of mine have tried and enjoyed the chicken&waffles, fried fish basket, and salads. I'm happily working my way through a breakfast punch card and enjoying every meal of it! If one thing has to be said about the service, I'd go with 'sporadic.' Eggheads is still a new restaurant and at this point it doesn't take many full tables to get your refill, side of toast, or take home container forgotten. Patience will help as this young restaurant inevitably experiences some growing pains. Still it's a reasonably priced, tasty option and worth a try (and try again) for anyone who hasn't yet been.

I go there every weekend and I always try something differant. My favorite meal so far is the country fried chicken with mashed pots and gravy. I love the fact that i can get breakfast all day long !! The last time i was there the place was packed and the food came out quickly and was nice and hot. The staff was always pleasant and very efficient I will continue to go there and show my support !!

OK, I said I would stop by again to reevaluate the Diner and I'm really glad I did. I rate it at 4 1/2 stars. I must have just hit them at an off moment the first time I stopped in. We went this morning and tried some of the more regular diner fare and it was excellent. I ordered the Starvin' Marvin because it had a lot of different types of breakfast fare include. It had two pancakes, three eggs, two slices of bacon, two sausage links. grits, homefries, and a biscuit with sausage gravy--all for $9.99. Way too much to finish, but I had some of everything. I ordered the eggs sunny side up because they are harder to do than the other styles and they came out perfect, slightly brown on the bottom, with a slightly curled crusty edge and the whites were set nicely. The biscuit and gravy was very tasty and the biscuit was done well. The sausage gravy was a very good consistency. the homefries were soft and warm in the middle and had a nice crusty outside. Everything else was very good. But I have to say the best part was the customer service. Everyone was friendly and helpful and honestly made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. 5 stars for service!! I'm glad I was wrong about this restaurant in my first review. Our area needs a place like this and I hope the local clientele continues to grow and support it--I will. I guess the best indication of my opinion is that I bought two $20 gift certificates to give to friends so that they can try this place out.

The staff was very nice but the environment scared me a little giving me the impression that it is not that clean.

My family and I ate here for the first time last week. We are moving to the area later this month and wanted to go where the locals go. What a GREAT diner! The staff is so sweet, our waitress was the most attentive I have ever had. We all ordered different entrees for lunch and not a word was said while we were eating, it was so good. I had the egg salad!! Yum! My husband had a burger and my son had the philly chicken sandwich. Can't wait to go back as an official local.
